Cults: A Visual Guide

I found when I started learning After Effects that I needed a tangible, measurable project to work on in order to make progress and find success. I then decided to merge my loves of true crime and animation to make an informative video styled as though it were produced in the 1980s. Aside from the extensive subject matter research, I also had to learn new software and workflow approaches required to execute on the vision I set for myself.

For an initial step into After Effects I’m very proud of this work. I think that the visual style is consistent and clean, leveraging strong symbols and imagery to help convey ideas and messaging. I’d like to revisit this project in the future and see what new elements and refinements I could introduce to it.
