Book Covers

The following is a handful of book cover designs I created over the course of a couple of weeks in September 2024.

I specifically tasked myself with designing covers for a wide variety of genres and audiences, as I wanted the collection to be diverse in aesthetics and execution. For instance, the ‘Ned Kelly’ book was designed to be a ‘Folio Society’ style limited edition print with a book sleeve resembling Kelly’s iconic helmet, whereas the ‘‘Salem’s Lot’ cover was designed to be a throwback to classic Stephen King horror covers with large serif fonts and bold colours.

I also wanted to design covers that would effectively capture the essence or plot of each book. This can be seen overtly with the twelve eggs depicted on ‘City of Thieves’ as the plot revolves around finding a carton of eggs, or more subtly with the flipped gradient overlay on ‘Catch 22’ representing the titular illusion of choice and ‘damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t’ theme. I really like the challenge of representing stories in a clear visual medium, and I’m excited to continue with this body of work and make more covers in the future.
